Bus Registration Requirements

Students residing in the City of Camrose or utilizing bus stops within the Town of Tofield must register for transportation annually. Additionally, all students accessing a bus stop as ineligible riders are required to complete annual registration.

For all other rural locations, registration is only required if:

This is the first time the student will be riding a BRSD school bus (e.g., new students starting Kindergarten or students new to BRSD).
There have been changes to the student's information such as physical address or school of attendance.

If there are no changes to the student's information, rural students will automatically be included in the route plans for the upcoming school year, and no registration is needed.
Students attending a school of choice in rural areas must fill out a Cross Boundary Registration form and submit it to the principal of the school that they are choosing to attend.

Battle River School Division Student information is linked to your students PowerSchool information at the school that they attend. Information that you provide to Transportation must match the information you have provided to the School. Please ensure the school has the most up-to-date information on file at all times. Information from this form is NOT shared with the school.

Transportation Eligibility:

Transportation eligibility is based on the distance between the student's home and their designated school via a public road.
The eligible distances are:
Kindergarten-Grade 6: students living 1.0 km or further from their designated school;
Grades 7-12: students living 2.0 km or further from their designated school.

Ineligible Students

Ineligible and Cross Boundary students will be assigned after eligible students if space permits and if all fees for transportation from previous years have been paid in full. Note that this process may not be finalized until mid to late September.
Student transportation may be revoked if an eligible student requires a seat.
EICS students will pay BRSD’s Transportation fees.

Transportation Information

City of Camrose students will receive an email verifying ridership, along with busing details, in late August, if the registration was completed before the deadline.
Rural students will receive a phone call from their bus driver with stop information in late August, if the registration was completed before the deadline.
Students will receive their bus pass from their bus driver.
School of choice and ineligible riders will not be assigned to the bus until after the third week of September if there is space available.
